#KYF2018 | 44th Karbi Youth festival has been kicked off at Taralangso, Diphu , Assam. The annual traditional youth festival is celebrated from 15th to 19th February every year. The 5 day extravaganza is the point of attraction for people of North-Eastern states for the last four decades. Karbi Cultural Socitety is organising the event for the empowerment of Youth and showcasing the talent of local youth.
Inauguration event includes Rongketong the Traditional Procession, Tirim Kethok (Ritual Tribute), and Hemphu Mukrang Rasinja Arani. Invitees for the inaguration were Mr. Tuliram Ronghong CEM of KAAC, Mr. Horen Sing Bay, Chairman KAAC and President, Reception committee, Council Members of KAAC, Ex Members of KAAC and Student Leaders from various student organisations. Inauguration event marked the beginning of the event.
Student groups from all the clans of Karbi communities were present in their traditional clothing. Event of inauguration was followed by inauguration of exhibition centers where chief invitees took note of the exhibitors.
This week long extravaganza has hundreds of participants representing different cultural zones arriving at the cultural homes built in traditional fashion adjacent to the various amphitheater and open stages.
Here in Taralagso various communities embellished with stunning fabrics, ethnic utensils, traditional arms, food and musical instruments. This years point of attraction is the structure made of bamboo ‘Nothengpi’ a type of earring worn by Karbi women. Karbi peoples hall is witnessing huge number of visitors.
In an interview with CEM, he told that we need to take up various other initiatives in order to bring the development of KAAC. He told that there is need of collaborative efforts in order to bring development of the Karbi people. He told that the youth festival is unique initiative for empowerment of the art and craft of the locals. He expects more and more people from all over India should visit this festival. When asked to Mr. Horen Sing Bey about specialty about this years fest he told that Cultural committee has invited MintLime and One Assam. He also explained the new initiative taken up by One Assam which is a collective initiative by Conglomerates of CCBUL to empower and promote different communities of Assam, its ethinicity, talents, entrepreneurship, businesses, tourism and events.
When asked Rumi Borah, Founder and CEO about Mintlime she says MintLime is an initiative driven by qualified consortium to further nurture and strengthen Event, Entertainment and Media and promotion industry (EEMP) through multidimensional seamless collaboration for collective gain and win customers sustenance and delight.
Some well known Singers, Music Directors and Actors will perform in next few day. Arrangements has been made for first aid and emergency medical care.
Government departments have their stalls as well, where they are showcasing their work and also creating awareness about initiatives taken by government for the betterment of the people.
