4 Kuki militants arrested in Manipur; arms and ammunition seized

On Saturday, four militants from the proscribed Kuki National Front (Mangkholam Kipgen faction) were imprisoned in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.

According to the official, from their possession 2 country-made, 9mm pistols and four cartridges were recovered.


Police raids forest

A joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur police raided a forest near Gopibung village and arrested the four militants.

However, the officials stated that a case was already registered at the local police station and legal action will be taken against those arrested.

Another operation

During another operation, at National Highway-2, Manipur’s Senapati district bordering Nagaland, the Assam Rifles jawans arrested a top cadre of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah).

At the time of interrogation, a defense spokesman said that the NSCN (IM) militant disclosed he was working for the outfit since 2002 and he along with another cadre for the last two months he was involved in extortion and tax collection activities.

However, the associate of the arrested NSCN (IM) rebel disappeared with the collected money on seeing the security forces.
