It is one of the most famous picnic spots near Guwahati. It is 55.5 km away from the city. It is located in the Kamrup district. You can sit by the lakeside with your family and loved ones and simply relax as you forget the hustle and bustles of daily life.

Deepor Beel

Deepor Beel is one of the most visited picnic spots of Guwahati. It is a must-visit place which is located 13 km away from the city. It is a freshwater lake in the former channel of the Brahmaputra river. Deepor Beel is a home to 19000 species of rare and endangered birds and has been declared as a Bird sanctuary. It makes for an ideal picnic spot with near and dear ones as you enjoy bird-watching and other activities here.

Umiam Lake

Umiam Lake is located at Meghalaya which is 81.6 km away from Guwahati, Assam. It is a beautiful human-made reservoir encircled by lush green East Khasi hills that give the best panoramic shot to visitors. Kopili picnic spot is located about 5 km from Rani and 30 km away from Guwahati city. It is also one of the most visited picnic spots in Assam. A very beautiful place with scenic beauty all around. The place is surrounded by beautiful mountains and streams flowing from the mountains. One can also go to this place for trekking and to take a break from all the hectic schedules apart from city life.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is first on the list because it is nearest compared to the other locations on the list. Situated on the southern banks of the river Brahmaputra in Morigaon district, it is about 48 kms from Guwahati city and takes around 1 hr 45 mins to reach there. The main advantage of this location is that you don’t have to travel too early which otherwise becomes a little difficult with kids. Start your ride comfortably after your brunch and you could easily reach there for an elephant safari or jeep safari. The Sanctuary is open from 7am to 4pm throughout the year but the best time to visit is from November to March. The elephant safari timings are 6.30 am/ 7.30 am and 2.30 pm. The jeep safari timings are 6.30 am and 3 pm. Bird watching is another activity you can enjoy as Pobitora is home to more than 2000 migratory birds.
