Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) enforcement branch has carried out an eviction drive on taking out the illegal banners at the newly inaugurated flyover at Dispur-Supermarket, on Thursday, on November 11.
Why was the eviction drive carried upon by GMC?
The eviction drive was carried out against the act of violation of public property defacement notification.
The authorities took out posters of the upcoming Falcom Festival 2021 to be held at Umrangso, Dima Hasao to be organized by Falcom Festival Celebration Committee, Haflong.
The GMC said that such act of spoiling the appearance is against the notification that has been issued and concerned committee must report to the Guwahati Municipal Corporation within three days as to why such defacement of public property was done despite of repeated notifications. GMC authorities further said, If the said committee failed to appear, action will be taken as per law.
Recent acts by public that brought criticism after opening of the Flyover
The newly constructed Dispur Flyover bridge has recently brought much attention to notice.
Whether it is over splitting of Gutkha or celebration of a birthday party. Issues are popping up daily showing concern towards the beautification and maintenance of the bridge.
Newly bend rules for the bridge and what the Notification says:
The Administration has brought to notice to the general public that a fine of 1000 rupees, will be imposed to anyone found engaging in any illegal activity on the bridge.
However, four Whatsapp group are also being formed where any image or proof of such violence will be monitored throughout by the GMC. Also, a reward of 1000 rupees will be provided to anyone providing authentic photographs in the groups.
What will happen if found guilty of any such action?
There is also strict vigilance towards sticking posters on the walls and removing them after the completion of 15 days, which will require thorough permission from GMC or else will incur a legal punishment.
There will also FIR could be lodged against anyone found guilty of committing such acts.
