The State Assembly passed the Assam Direct Recruitment Commissions for Analogous Posts in Class III and Class IV Bill, 2021.
How will it work?
Two different Commissions will be formed by the Government to recruit candidates for Class III and Class IV posts. The passage of this bill has made it easier to provide the promised one lakh jobs.
Each of the two commissions will compile all the analogous posts of various departments and hold examinations for recruitment.
CM Sarma’s statement:
While speaking about the bill on December 24, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The passage of this bill will let the government provide the promised jobs to one lakh youths of the state. The government has already recruited around 2,000 candidates. By May, the government will recruit 30,000-40,000 candidates.”
“Earlier, individual departments had to issue advertisements for recruitment. That process was time-taking and costly. There was even an overlapping of examination dates, making the candidate take one examination when there were two on the same day. If we go by the recruitment system prevalent in the state earlier, we will not be able to recruit one lakh candidates even in five years. The commission for class III (grade III) will compile all analogous posts and hold examinations, so will the commission for class IV (grade IV),” he further added.
He also stated that “The candidates can prefer the departments they want to serve in their applications. The examination system will be the same as the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). The two commissions will be on an experimental basis. If they can ensure transparent and clean recruitment, we will think of making permanent commissions.”
