Assam: Govt. takes step to ‘modernise APDCL’; investment worth Rs. 8727.08 crore

Assam Government has taken the decision to modernise APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company Limited) as they undertook Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) with an investment plan of Rs. 8727.08 crore.

According to the government, the decisions taken to augment the power sector will have a positive impact on the overall development of the state.

Infrastructure development

In regards to the infrastructure, the Government is planning to work on High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS), Aerial Bunched (AB) Cables Sub-stations and lines, Bifurcation of Feeders, Re-conductoring of existing lines and SCADA.

Also, the setting up of Smart Prepaid Meters has begun throughout the state. Under this new concept, there will be a reduction of Aggregate, Technical, and Comercial (AT&C) losses along with improvement in quality, reliability, and affordability of power supply to consumers.

The MyGov portal of the government has informed about the same.
