On December 7,  Bordoloi, Assam Congress Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, during a discussion in the Parliament mentioned that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been misused several times and made a demand for abrogating the same.

Requests made by Bordoloi:

Bordoloi said that in order to prevent the mishaps due to misusing of the allotted power, it is very necessary to serve strict punishment to the people for whom such circumstances took place. He requested to look into the Nagaland matter strictly and not only for granted and urged for proper investigation and adequate measure into the same. With this, he further mentioned that an amendment to this particular act must be carried out by the parliament.

The MP also criticized the killings of civilians in the Tiru area of Mon district, Nagaland as he says “As an Indian I hang my head in shame when some security personnel carry out such a barbaric on our own citizens.”

Further, Bordoloi added that the deceased were youths who earn their living through daily wages. And it was on December 4 when these youth were returning back to their respective homes to meet their families and relatives and to attend Church prayers. But they were the unfortunate innocent people who were killed by the Armed forces for no reason following some sort of misinformation.
