The Kamrup district of Assam has set 5th December as the target date to complete Covid vaccination in the district. On November 29, Principal Secretary KK Dwivedi, a senior observer of the district for “Har Ghar Dastak” campaign stated that strict measures are to be taken in order to find out the exact cause behind the unwillingness of the people to take vaccines.

Steps taken:

The Principal Secretary asked the directed deputy commissioner (DC) Kailash Karthik N to make required arrangements to bring out the vaccination reports up to December month. He also asked the senior officials to have a word with those residents who were not convinced by the Asha workers. At the same time, doctors were also requested to spread awareness in regards to the same. Besides, necessary measures are to be undertaken for those adults who have still not enrolled themselves in the voter’s list.

Statement:

The Secretary said, “Set the target of vaccination on polling station basis with the help of the list prepared by Asha workers, and prepare a polling station level road map based on the number of immunization.”

What will the Government do?

Under the “Har Ghar Dastak” campaign that is initiated by the Central Government of India in order to accomplish the Covid-19 vaccination in the country, the state government has also started a colossal monitoring programme with an aim to vaccinate all the eligible residents of Assam by covering the areas of the state, basing the polling stations. The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma along with other authorities and officials will visit these polling stations from November 29 to December 5 of 2021.

What is ‘Har Ghar Dastak’?

‘Har Ghar Dastak’ is a scheme launched by PM Modi on November 3 in order to accelerate the vaccination drive smoothly across the country.

This campaign is expected to convince all the residents who are still not willing to take the vaccine.

Keeping the smooth running of the vaccination drive in mind the Asha workers have already prepared a list of vaccination at the polling station level from November 8 to November 21, following which it would be easier for them to do the verification.

Total vaccination till date:

So far 17,67,759 doses of vaccine have been dispensed in the district of Kamrup.
