Adil Hussain representing Assam has indeed made his state proud as he won the Best Actor Male Award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival. The actor had won the award for his role in the film “Raahgir”.
The film shows the existence of individuals of rustic India and stars Adil Hussain and Tillotama Shome, who has won the Best Actor Female Award for something very similar. The film “Raahgir” is directed by filmmaker Goutam Ghose and has won 4 awards at the film festival. The movie stored the title of the Best Feature Film and Ghose was awarded as the best director.
The movie festival was hung on August 28 and August 29, 2021. The recently won 2 Awards movie “Raahgir” in June at the prestigious UK Asian Film Festival 2021. The Best Director Award goes to Ghose who had won and Shome got back home the Best Female trophy and Washington DC South Asian Film Festival showcases alternative and independent cinema from South Asia.
Raahgir, in view of a short story by Prafulla Roy, is a story about three strangers who meet on their way and form a bond based solely on their kindness and willingness to forego their own basic needs in order to save human lives and the film emphasises the significance of human relationships and how humanity can endure even in difficult circumstances.
