Bhavina Patel dedicates her silver medal to the nation, thanks coach and family

After achieving the silver medal in Tokyo Paralympics, Indian Para Table Tennis player Bhavina Patel dedicated it to all the countrymen. Bhavina Patel said that “I want to dedicate this medal to all my fans and all the countrymen”. I could not have reached here with their assistance. She further said that “ I am exceptionally glad that  for the first time in Paralympics, an Indian woman created history by winning a medal in Para Table Tennis. I thank the coach and my relatives inspired a lot”.

Simultaneously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Bhavina Ben Patel for winning the silver medal in women’s singles and termed her victory as historic and said that it will attract youth towards sports. The Prime Minister tweeted, “The extraordinary Bhavina Patel has created history. He has won a historic silver medal for the country. Her life journey is inspiring and she will attract youth towards sports.

Paralympics: Seems Bhavina Ben loses in final, wins silver

The nation on Sunday cheered paddler Bhavinaben Patel’s win of silver medal in Table Tennis at the continuous Tokyo Paralympics in Japan. 

Patel won the medal after losing to China’s Zhou Ying in the final of the women’s singles class 4 event where she had before reached the final by defeating world no.3 China’s Miao Zhang 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8 on Saturday. “I was slightly nervous during the match today. I couldn’t implement my game strategy well. Next time, I will surely give my best. I’m happy that India has created history by winning a Silver medal in table tennis at Paralympics. I dedicate this silver medal to my country. I want to thank my coach, family members and friends for their constant support,” Patel conveyed. 

Heartwarming messages from various Politicians

Immediately Following her success, celebratory messages poured in from various politicians. President Ram Nath Kovind said, “Bhavina Patel inspires the Indian contingent and sportslovers winning silver at #Paralympics. Your extraordinary determination and skills have brought glory to India. My congratulations to you on this exceptional achievement.”

Broadening his greetings, External affairs minister S Jaishankar said, “Congratulations @BhavinaPatel6 on winning the silver medal for #TeamIndia at the #Paralympics. A proud moment.”

Union finance minister likewise congratulated Patel and said her perseverance, constancy , achievement and success shall be motivation for many. “Congratulations #BhavinaPatel on winning the Silver medal in #ParaTableTennis. Your perseverance and success shall shall as motivation for many. #TokyoParalympics.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi congratulated by saying “Congratulations to Bhavina Patel for winning the #Silver . India applauds your achievement. You’ve done the nation proud. #TokyoParalympics.”

Vice-President of India Venkaiah Naidu additionally congratulated Patel and said the whole nation is proud of her achievement. “Heartiest Congratulations to Bhavina Patel for winning a silver medal in the Table Tennis Women’s Singles Class 4 event at the #TokyoParalympics2020. The entire nation is proud of her remarkable accomplishment. My best wishes for her future endeavours. #Paralympics #Praise4Para.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday warmly congratulated table tennis player Bhavina Patel for winning the silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics where he mentioned that Patel’s performance in the Paralympics will inspire and move millions of people.

“Many congratulations to Bhavina Patel for winning the silver medal for India. You have made every Indian proud. Your stellar performance will inspire millions,” Kejriwal said in a tweet. (PTI)
