Jorhat has issued an employment announcement for the position of Consultant vacancy.
About Jorhat District
Jorhat is one of Assam’s major cities. Jorhat serves as a crossroads for upper Assam and Nagaland.
It was the last capital of the Ahom Kingdom and is home to several Assamese cultural historical sites.
The Brahmaputra River generates Majuli, the world’s biggest riverine island, which covers 924.6 square kilometres and has a population of about 150,000 people, in the district’s northwestern corner.
Since the time of the Ahom emperors, the island, which was constantly eroded by the strong and unstable Brahmaputra River, has been the primary location of Vaishnavite pilgrimage.
Satradhikars teaching Vaishnavism, which was introduced by Srimanta Sankardeva, lead several Sattras (monasteries) that resemble those of mediaeval periods (1449-1568).
The Bhakats (celebrated monks) of the Sattras farm vast revenue-free fields and have an undiscovered richness of Vaishnavite scriptures in each Sattra.
People have been encouraged to participate in cultural events over the decades by the cultural diversity that existed in Jorhat over a century ago, and as a result, Jorhat has been able to maintain its cultural diversity.
