The National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS) based in Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh has made history by becoming the very first from the country to successfully carry out specialized land, air and aqua-based adventure activities in France.
The NIMAS team comprising of eight army personnel and four civilians from Arunachal, is skilled in expertise in various fields. The institute’s Director, Col Sarfraz Singh, said that the team successfully carried out winter alpine trekking, paragliding, cycling and scuba diving in the general areas of France last month, in November.
The expedition showcased the institute’s expertise in all fields of adventure sports. It was flagged off on the 27th of October, by Ajay Bhatt, MoS for Defence and Tourism.
It was a part of the ‘Azaadi ka Amrut Mohatsav’ celebrations. During the expedition, the Indian National Flag was waived with pride, and displayed at numerous locations.
