We all must have heard of the famous and controversial history of ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ and its rise and fall. In a recent incident, Kanta Prasad (80), the owner of the famous Dhaba in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, tried to attempt suicide on Thursday night after consuming sleeping pills. He was rushed to Safdarjung hospital and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), says a report.
After receiving a PCR call about an attempted suicide patient brought to the hospital, police rushed to the spot. They found out that the man is none other than Kanta Prasad and is undergoing treatment. His wife informed the police that he had been depressed for the last few days, a senior police officer said.
His wife has also said that Prasad had to close the restaurant he opened in December last year and was back at his old roadside stall. The cost of running the new establishment was around Rs 1 lakh, while his income was only about Rs 30,000.
“My financial condition is still very stable. The money I received from the public is safe with me. More than my children, I am aware that the donation I got would safeguard my future. I have kept it safely,” Kanta Prasad told a news source before. Prasad shot to fame after a video of him tearfully conveying the desperation of the months since the lockdown was shared widely across social media platforms.
