Assam’s currently channel swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika announced to make an endeavor to cross the North Irish Channel in 2022 and the English Channel in 2023 with his partner Rimo Saha from West Bengal, on Saturday.
Elvis and Rimo has been assigned the dates between September 17 to 22 to attempt to swim the distance of 42 kms in a length of 12-16 hours under the banner of Assam Swimming Association.
“My relay partner Rimo Saha and I are going to attempt to cross the North Irish Channel in September next year. The next year (2023), we plan to cross the English Channel in the month of March,” stated Elvis who back in 2019 was the first swimmer from Assam to cross the Catalina Channel, US.
The duo is trained by Pune’s Tapan Panigrahi and stated that both the swims will be dedicated to the heroes of Covid-19 pandemic who has thrived against all odds to save millions of lives.
