Nagaland reports 93 cases of Delta variant, 2 Kappa variant, 1 Alpha variant

Of the 98 samples sent from Nagaland to National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani,West Bengal for genome sequencing 93 of them revealed the presence of Delta variant. Two cases of Kappa variant and one case of Alpha variant were also detected. The health department has advised the citizens to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols as this variant is more infectious and has stressed for the need of vaccination.

The health department warned that the Delta variant is more infectious. It advised the people to strictly adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behavior and stressed on the need for vaccination.

Northeast India, which stood largely unaffected by the first wave, has been resorting to lockdowns and other restrictions since the last couple of months as cases spiked even in the tea estates.
