NFR to introduce Vistadome Tourist special trains in two popular routes

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is all set to introduce Vistadome Tourist special trains on two recognized popular routes to attract tourists.

Railways will introduce Vistadome Tourist special trains in two identified popular routes with tourism potential, according to Anshul Gupta, General Manager of NFR.

On Saturday, one will run between Guwahati and New Haflong, while the other would run between New Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar Junction.

The introduction of Vistadome Tourist trains, according to the General Manager, is intended to allow passengers to enjoy the beautiful splendor of the region while also highlighting the region’s cultural legacy on a one-of-a-kind train ride.

The General Manager hoped that working together with the Tourism Department would assist the tourism industry and the local economy grow. Throughout the ride, this train would give comfort and convenience.

Features of Vistadome coaches

The General Manager also demonstrated to the journalists the distinctive features of Vistadome coaches. The Vistadome coach is outfitted with cutting-edge glass windows and all-glass roofs, allowing tourists to enjoy a 360-degree view of the open sky, mountains, tunnels, bridges, hills, and lush green woods.

It will also contain viewing lounges where visitors can take in the sights. The coach’s rotational chairs are designed to provide additional comfort to passengers. Coaches also come equipped with a multimedia entertainment system and Wi-Fi.

Tourists can enjoy their entire journey by watching movies, music videos, and other forms of entertainment. A passenger information system based on Wi-Fi is also available. CCTV cameras and a fire alarm system have been installed for passenger safety.


The special Vistadome train service between Guwahati and New Haflong will run twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with stops at Manderdisa and Maibong stations.

The other Vistadome special train service will run three days a week, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, between New Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar Jn.

Gupta added, “Introduction of these Vistadome trains will help to generate additional revenue for railway and also for local people of these areas. Northeast Frontier Railway hopes that the initiative to boost the tourism sector of Assam and North Bengal will be very well patronized by the local people as well as by the visitors from other states.”
