Investigating Officer suspended regarding Guwahati Pave party case

An investigating officer named Taraprasad Singh, ASI of Latasil police station has been suspended by the city police department for alleged negligence in duty. He got suspended regarding the Guwahati rave party case.

Where did the raid take place?


On 13th August Guwahati Police raided a house party in the Kharghuli area and arrested 18 people. The raid took place after 11:30 PM in the apartment on the third floor of Riveria Apartment in Kharghuli.

A case has been registered in Latasil Police station under case (282/21 u/s188 IPC, R/W Section 20(a)/21(b)/25/29 of NDPS.

What have the police recovered from that party?

Guwahati City Commissioner of Police Harmeet Singh said that drugs were being consumed at a birthday party organised by a person at the Riveria apartment, the city police conducted a raid at around midnight on Friday.

The police team recovered cocaine, ganja and other banned material from their procession and it is suspected that the 18 persons who got arrested from the rave party had links outside the state.

Who got arrested in the rave party case?

Police sources informed that the 18 persons were there at the rave party without following the COVID-19 protocols. The apartment is owned by Vikash Jain (55), who has been also arrested along with 17 other persons.

The other 17 arrested persons are Nassif Ahmed (53) — a resident of the Paltan Bazar area; Sumit Kumar Beria (45, Tarun Nagar in Bhangagarh);
Rakesh Bargohain (46, Rukmini Nagar, Dispur); Pankaj Kakoti (Rukminigaon, Dispur); and Siddhartha Barthakur (29, Dinesh Oja Path, Bhangagarh); Ashok Barman (35, Rukminigaon, Dispur); Hirendra Sinha (38, Patharquary, Bishnu Nagar); Ridib Baruah (42, Zoo Narengi Road, Geetanagar); Chayan Saikia (32, Sewali Path, Hatigaon); Amit Pegu (39, Mathura Nagar, Dispur); Amit Baruah (45, Zoo Narengi Road, Geetanagar).

Among 18 persons, there were six females. And they are- Nayanika Baruah (45, Rukmini Nagar in Dispur); Debarshri Beria (45, Tarun Nagar); Bonamallika Choudhury (45, Nabagraha Road, Chandmari); Nimisha Bhuyan (35, Zoo Narengi Road, Geetananagar); Debajani Hazarika (34, Forest Gate, Narengi) and Jubee Baruah (39, B Baruah Rd, Paltan Bazar).
