Teach For India at NIT, Silchar

Teach For India (TFI), a non-profit organization is revolutionising the education sector in India by making available an excellent education to those, who literally can’t get to it by themselves. Teach For India has been recruiting Fellows for their Fellowship Program from across North East region for some years now. To achieve its basic objective further, they are now conducting orientation programs to spread awareness about their Fellowship program in some of the most prominent educational institutions of the North East region. The basic objective of such events is to let the students of these institutions know, how through this fellowship program, students after graduation can make use of their skills and how they can make an impact on the grass root levels where it matters.

Most importantly, this is also about how graduates, in the two years of their Fellowship program can enhance their skills and how it will help them in the years following their fellowship tenure. For this is also about awareness on how we can help people alongside enhancing our own skills.

On 22nd February, 2019, Teach For India conducted such an orientation program at NIT, Silchar. A total of 50 final year students attended this program, which also became a pre-placement talk for them. They were very much enthusiastic about this opportunity, and even showed their interests in applying to this fellowship. Many of them even shared their own experiences and aspirations of working on social issues. Overall, it turned out to be a very effective session. Through this program at NIT Silchar, they are aiming at recruiting more and more capable individuals who will be the pioneers in imparting education to the most unfortunate and underprivileged ones, through the Teach For India classrooms situated over 7 cities in India.

Also, talking about recruiting engineering graduates, Teach For India thinks that engineers are very much essential for this cause. For engineers are “Design thinkers”, so skills like problem solving, data analysis and critical thinking are imbibed in them from the very beginning. Teach For India’s mission is to provide an excellent Education to every child across India. With the believe that only the youth can cause a greater impact on the contemporary society, TFI’s targeted outreach looks forward to many more graduates to join hands with them on this mission.
